Hello! My name is Kelly and I am Red Poppy Web Design. I have two little ones, Anya, 7, and Jack, 4, and a very goofy husband, Mike. Originally from the south, we now call the beautiful state of Maine home. We're a tight knit clan since our family is so far away. We laugh a lot.
Web Graphic Design is a passion for me. Truly, it's my dream job! I love taking my creative passion in different directions... modern design for a cutting-edge new business, unabashedly girly for a custom boutique clothing designer, fresh and zen for a day spa. My grandfather always told me, if you love what you do you never work a day in your life. How true.
Professionally, I have BAs in Mass Communication and Women's Studies, professional certifications in Web Design and Development and ten years of experience in small business, Web Design and e-commerce development.
Personally, I've been an artist one way or another my entire life. When I was little I would write my own stories and illustrate them. I started sewing in high school and created my prom dress with my own money ($75 per royal blue sequined yard) when, or maybe because, everyone said I couldn't do it. Totally Pretty in Pink.
I took up painting during a college semester spent in England and abroad. I was so inspired by everything I saw- the countryside, the cities, the architecture, the museums. I wrote almost every day. I have the most amazing journals of my experiences from a nineteen year old's perspective! So naive, so fearless.
Photography, interior design, sewing, painting, drawing and writing are all things I love to do when I'm not designing websites, blogs or web graphics for Etsy. I am filled with creative energy! I look at the world and see color combinations, lines and curves and beauty everywhere.
I am mostly influenced by color and my inspirations are Bloomsbury artist Vanessa Bell, color genius and Vermont artist Susan Sargent, and Henri Matisse.
Thanks for visiting my website!
